Stop Moving My Things

Written for Rocky on our 50th Wedding Anniversary...

We’ve been lovers and soulmates since 1969

Our summer of love

You were heading to Viet Nam

And I wasn’t sure where I was heading

And now fifty years later

It still feels so right

We’ve mastered the skills of a happy marriage

We listen to each other

EXCEPT when you’re talking about rugby

OR if I’m saying anything at all

We support each other…

Remember the tobacco case and graduate school

We put up with each other’s eccentricities…

Well maybe NOT ALWAYS - you just have SO many

We respect each other’s differences

And we share the same values

And then there’s our romance…

It’s always been there

Flowers, dancing, music, poetry,

Unconditional love, laughter, friendship,

Hugging, playing, drumming, ping-pong

You are generous and kind to me

And your help at home never goes unnoticed

You’re strong when I need your strength the most

You make me laugh hysterically

You’re spontaneous and reliable

And always keep things interesting

We share life’s happiest moments with

Sarah, Andy, Jake, Carrie, Bennett, Sawyer, and Sam

And we get stronger with life’s challenges

We know how to turn lemons into lemonade…

And vodka tonics

I love reminiscing with you

I love it when you read to me

I love growing older with you

But what I love the most…

Is just being with you

P.S.  NOW WILL YOU PLEASE STOP MOVING MY THINGS!
